Solar Activity

In spite of the 150 million kilometer average distance that separates us from the Sun, its energy bathes us constantly.

CME animationA Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is solar phenomenon that expels toward the surrounding interplanetary space an enormous cloud that consists of relativistic, electromagnetic and ionized energy. In the animation on the right, you can see the emission of a typical CME (courtesy of the japanese satellite-observatory Yohkoh). The dark disc is caused by a coronagrapher (a device that produces an artificial "eclipse" onboard the satellite); the small red circle indicates the size of the Sun relative to the billowing CME.

These ejections can part in any direction when emitted by the Sun, so they don't always point toward the Earth. But when they're aimed directly at our planet (a frontal CME), its relativistic energy only needs a few minutes to reach Earth's vicinity. The denser part of the CME (the latter part of the electromagnetic spectrum, as well as its ionic components) takes from 2 to 4 days to reach us. The CMEs that are not directly aimed toward Earth are called lateral, and, as part of the overall field, they still affect us.

As soon as the ionized portion of a CME hits us, depending on its intensity, it begins to energize our planet's magnetosphere and ionosphere, starting at the vortexes found above both its magnetic poles. This, on the rebound, many times intensifies the aurora borealis and/or australis.

Besides the astrophysical and meteorological observations carried on daily, other branches of science have noticed that a CME's energy stimulates —in one way or another— our body's bioenergy circuits. This energy has been known for ages as Prana or Ch'i. Bioenergy, Prana or Ch'i activates diverse nervous, glandular and cellular functions. It has seen to be responsible for many of the psychosomatic changes that affect our moods and behavior patterns.

If we analize the environmental increase of energy caused by a CME from an astronical point of view, we'll see that its effect quickens and amplifies the influence of all other astronical factors. This is something that obliges us to take into consideration the CME's influence, specially if we are evaluating the astronical conditions of a given moment.

After carefully studying the effect that a CME has on our integral being, we, here at the World Association of Astronica, have come to the conclusion that (1) its relativistic energies act on the functions belonging to the Universal and Individual cofrequencies, (2) that its electromagnetic range affects those of the Nexal and Cortical cofrequencies, and (3) that its ionic portion activates the elements of the Limbical and Material cofrequencies. This means that as the total energy of the CME crosses transfrequency, its different ranges of energy affect the influence activated by the other astronical factors, according to where they are.

Personally, I have noticed that, for example, when the corpuscular (molecular) portion of a CME arrives at our atmosphere (i.e. the last part of the ejection), our emotional reactions and/or sensory perceptions become more intense. For example, if a person is scared at that particular moment, it turns into an unbearable and incomprehensible fear; if he's laughing, it may transform into an unaccountable hysterical giggle. It's as if those sensations become exaggerated or magnified. The resulting stress can produce headaches, indigestion, exhaustion or general discomfort. But, if we are aware of the CME's presence, we can take precautionary measures to neutralize the excess energy, or use it in a productive way, such as channelling it toward the part(s) of our being that needs it, as accupuncture and Tai Ch'i does.

A CME can be electrically positive or negative, depending on the type of ions that predominate in its constitution. It there is a predomination of protons, it'll be a positive cloud; if there are more electrons, it'll be electrically negative. This causes Earth's atmosphere, more in certain regions than others, more at certain times of the day or of the year than others, to be swamped by either positive or negative ions.

It is now a known fact that when positive ions (protons) predominate, the "vertical winds" found in certain regions of the world are much stronger, e.g. the Middle East "Sharav," the North Mediterranean "Mistral," central Europe's "Foëhn," California's "Santa Ana," etc., and that their degree of positive polarity is much greater. This is something that is harmful to all living beings in its vecinity.

It is an established fact that a healthful environment is one that has a 5-to-4 ionization count, that is, five negative ions (electrons) for every four positive ions (protons). This is based on studies that have proved that when the amount of positive ions is increased, most living entities began to become psychosomatically stressed. Whereas, when negative ions prevail, the organism relaxes physically and psychically. The first case, that of the positive ions, obviously produces an unhealthy effect on our corporeal and mental (emotional and rational) components, while the second case stimulated both areas in a salutary way.
